Bangkok generally has a lot to offer food connoisseurs; however, wine connoisseurs notoriously have rather slim pickings and limited options. Although most restaurants do sell wine; the choice of wine is often very limited, and the price tag is usually very high. For the last 10 years the “Wine Conn...More...

- When I first moved to Thailand I use to see street vendors selling various insects by the gram. I thought it would be more shocking than not, but actually I had taken some survival training in the past where we had to fry up some crickets and other edible insects a few times so the whole idea of eating these creepy crawlers didn't effect me so much. In my time in Bangkok I have never purchased any insects, but for curious friends coming from abroad the boys an me often turn to these delicacies saying to our friends that it is quite normal to eat them after a night of drinking. From cricket, Beatles, scorpions, maggots, to snakes, these snacks really are an evening meal for many Thai's of the North Eastern descent as well as a tasty snack for many Asian and Middle Easterns tourist. For me, I'll stick to some of the other many wonderful foods that Thailand has to offer.

- I’ve been living in Thailand for six years and have yet to find the perfect burger, but there are quite a few that do a decent job. My Top Picks
1. Greyhound 2. Triple O’s White Spot 3. MOS Burger 4. Outback
Greyhound; Take your “Elvis Burger” as it comes or topped with Bacon and Cheese. Made of about a quarter pound seasoned ground beef hand packed as opposed to some burgers that seem to be pre-made frozen patties; cooked just right. Bite into the burger where your mouth experiences the delightfully baked bun then followed by the scrumptious burger itself tantalizing your taste buds. Comes with a side of fries (so,so) and some pickled vegetables. All-in-All, consistently one of the best in Bangkok.
Outback; This Aussie franchise serves up some pretty mean burgers. From the “No Rules Burger” where you can add anything from Bacon, Cheese, Grilled Onions, Pickles, Tomatoes, etc. to the “Mushroom Swiss;” these burgers definitely have style. Depending on the cook, the burgers can come out a bit greasy and over-cooked so make sure you mention this to your waiter/waitress otherwise you may feel like you are having a heart attack after eating-of course you may feel that anyway if you indulge in any of the delicious appetizers before hand or beautiful desserts after. Recently tried Outback in Singapore and it appears they switched from using freshly made hand packed patties to frozen patties-Hope that Outback Thailand doesn’t make the same mistake.
Triple O’s White Spot; Fairly new to Bangkok after opening at Central World, Triple O’s is probably one of the best tasting fast food burgers I’ve experienced. A patty about 5 inches in diameter this burger is filled with lots of toppings to add into your indulgence. Be weary, Triple O burgers sometimes come out a bit greasy all the way to the bun-whether it’s the quality of meat or the fat in the meat enhancing the flavor; it’s up to the individual to decided whether to sacrifice taste for a high cholesterol reading. Absolutely delicious, but I know what the females in my life would tell me. ☺
MOS Burger; Expanding the MOS Burger empire into Thailand, MOS Burger serves up a wide variety of burgers-burgers stuffed with Pork, Beef or shrimp for the seafood lover. A healthy fast food alternative to Bangkok’s Burger King and McDonald’s, however one disappointing characteristic of MOS Burger Thailand is that they seem to use the same tasteless bun that McDonalds uses. If you’ve been to Japan and experienced MOS Burger there, you’ll see that from top to bottom the quality is consistently good. Take away the bun and chomp on the burger itself and the fries/chips, and you’ll surely fulfill your burger craving. Good burger, great value!
